Banff Gondola - Sulphur Mountain

No trip to the Canadian Rocky Mountains is complete without a trip up Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola. The top of Sulphur Mountain, arguably, gives one of the most spectacular views offered in the Canadian Rockies in a 360 degree circle. The gondola ride takes 8 minutes and rises to an elevation of 2,281m (7,486 ft) at the Summit Upper Terminal. The views are equally special whether visiting in the summer or the winter. In my slide show there are pictures from both seasons. The Banff Gondola is fully accessible to special needs individuals. The main entrance is equipped with automatic doors with interior and exterior sensors and a wheelchair access ramp leading into the building. Each of the gondolas are capable of taking a wheelchair and passenger to the Summit Complex, which contains an elevator to allow access to both restaurants, the gift shops and summit viewing deck. The upper cafe offers a sit down service and spectacular views. The observation deck offers superb views but the skywalk is not accessible to mobility impaired visitors. There is a size and weight limit on wheelchairs but alternative chairs are available free of charge for the round trip if yours is either too heavy or too large. As always we recommend checking prior to making the trip to the lower station. Accessible parking is available next to the lower station.
